“In Search of Sunlight” is a polaroid series focusing on lighting that catches my eye. I have many memories associated with sunlight. Light is always something that has caught my attention, so for this series of photographs I used a light sensitive film to capture light, or the absence of light. Physical photographs are another association I have with emotions, mainly happiness. I have always loved looking through my family’s photo albums, so the polaroid has a special place in my heart. I used polaroids because of the unpredictability of the chemistry. Sometimes the photograph turns out correctly and sometimes it does not, whether that be chance or manipulation. Sunlight has often been used as a way of telling time. So by photographing light, a time of day or sense of time can be associated with the image.
